Kevin Mullen serves as the Director of Bands at Brandon High School, leading the Brandon Bulldog Band with a focus on musical excellence, student growth, and community connection. After joining the staff in 2024, he quickly developed a deep appreciation for the program’s long-standing tradition of success and is honored to continue that legacy.
Before coming to Brandon, he taught at Warren Central High School from 2017 to 2024, where his ensembles consistently earned superior and excellent ratings at both concert and marching evaluations. With a background in composition and arranging, his music has been performed by groups across Mississippi, including Brandon, Neshoba Central, New Albany, Stone, Stringer, and Warren Central.
Outside of the classroom, he serves as a musician and worship leader at Lakeshore United Methodist Church, where he coordinates the music prepared for all worship services.
Mullen holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Music Education degree at William Carey University.
Kevin and his wife, Kansas, live in the city of Terry with their daughter, Emerson. They are happy to say that the Brandon community feels like home and are excited to continue investing in the students and families of the Brandon community for years to come.
Michelle Green, a Mississippi State University graduate, is in her twenty-third year as Assistant Band Director at Brandon. She previously taught at West Point High School, Heritage Academy, and Starkville Academy. Mrs. Green values building relationships within the Brandon community and now teaches children of former students. She and her husband, Byron, have two children, a son-in-law, and a granddaughter. Outside of work, she is active in her church, where she plays clarinet and sings in the choir.
Mr. Dunklee oversees percussion activities at both the high school and middle school levels. He brings extensive teaching and performance experience from across the South, including roles as adjunct staff at high schools in Mississippi and Louisiana. He has also contributed significantly to the WGI percussion community. As Battery Coordinator for St. Martin Independent, he led the ensemble to a bronze medal in 2022 and a silver medal in 2023 in the Independent A class.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Dunklee enjoys a variety of personal interests, including playing disc golf, engaging in video games, and exploring the mountains and trails of Colorado through hiking. He also cherishes spending time watching movies with his cat, Mellow.
With his diverse background and passion for music education, Mr. Dunklee is excited for the future of the Brandon Band!
Bre’ Lyn Breedlove is a graduate of the University of Mississippi from which she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She later earned her master’s degree in Music Education from William Carey University. Mrs. Breedlove began her teaching career in 2019 as an assistant band director at Quitman High School. She moved to Pontotoc High School in 2021 to return home and teach at her alma mater. During her time at Pontotoc, she was successful in earning superior ratings for the high school Concert Band in sight reading at the 2022 MHSAA State Concert Band Evaluation and excellent ratings in concert performance. Additionally, she has earned superior and excellent ratings in both concert performance and sight reading at the Dr. Joe Berry Mullins Festival for the 8th Grade Band in 2023 and 2024. She has been part of the Mississippi Lions All-State Band staff since 2020 and has been blessed with several opportunities to travel outside the country with the ensemble including places like Hawaii, Canada, Washington DC, Australia, and more. Mrs. Breedlove has been teaching at Brandon for two years and is very excited to see what the future of the program holds. Mrs. Breedlove is incredibly thankful for the love and support she has from her family and loving husband, Blake, who is also a music teacher. In her free time, she enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her mom, Ginger, and her brother, Coda, and taking every opportunity she can to visit Disney World with her husband.
Miss Brynna Ridgdell serves as one of the assistant band directors for the Brandon Bands. Miss Ridgdell graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
As a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Miss Ridgdell has served numerous band programs across the Coast as an adjunct woodwind instructor, drum major instructor, and visual and color guard instructor. During her own high school band experiences, Miss Ridgdell also was a member of the color guard for three years before becoming a drum major in her last year of school, and she was an active member of the jazz ensemble as a saxophonist and as founding member of the St. Martin Indoor Percussion program.
